On 2 July 2017, U.S. president Donald Trump published a video in his Twitter account, in which he is depicted 'wrestling down' CNN. Specifically, the video was a doctored GIF of Trump body-slamming an individual during a match years before, with the CNN logo pasted over the man Trump attacked. Trump had posted the video in an effort to declare that he had conquered CNN, who at the time had reported negative stories about the President in connection to his attacks against the presenters of U.S. news show Morning Joe.[1] The video had been previously posted by a user on the subreddit r/The_Donald (who had a known history of Islamophobia and anti-Semitism)[2][3] and was heavily condemned by news organisations and political figures across the country, who deemed it threatening and as a form of inciting violence against the media.[4][5]
