Dora Kirby

Mrs. Dora E. Kirby (September 9, 1901 - April 5, 1991) was president of Woodbury College/University from 1959 to 1977. She began her 18-year career at Woodbury as the Assistant to the President, providing the then-president with leadership assistance. After becoming president, Kirby quickly began to lead the college in new directions. Three years after becoming university president, Woodbury received full accreditation from the Western College Association, now known as the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC).[1] In 1974, under her leadership, Woodbury College became Woodbury University.[2] Mrs. Kirby is best known for her personal relationships with all students during her time as president.
