Bernard Lorenzo King Jr.[1] (Born 1993), professionally known as Double G, is an American singer, songwriter, and producer for Broadcast Music, Inc.. In 2015 he produced "To The Top" for Top 100 billboard artist Coo Coo Cal. This collaboration brought him recognition as a mainstream producer. In 2017 Double G released "Overtime" with Beeda Weeda, a Bay Area artist known for his associations with E40, Mac Dre, and Too Short.

Early Life

Bernard King Jr. was born and raised in Milwaukee, a city outside of Chicago. King grew up in Milwaukee's east and north sides. He spent his childhood in the city's neighborhoods and attended public schools in the metropolitan area. He began making beats and recording his own songs at the age of 13, learning to mix, master, and produce music at home. He continued to work independently on his music until moving to Nashville in 2010. He was quickly discovered and signed by the independent record label GHE at age 17. Double G later gained popularity for producing and collaborating with prominent U.S. artists.

Discovery

In 2011, after leaving his hometown of Milwaukee and moving to Nashville at age 17, Double G quickly gained popularity among his peers by introducing a fresh musical style. He was discovered and signed by the local independent record label Go Hard Ent. (GHE), where he made his breakthrough as a lead artist. The group released several popular underground songs and mixtapes, becoming a local high school sensation. In 2012, the group released their first self-promoted album, "Born2Ride," which garnered them local airplay and performance opportunities at Nashville's major venues. GHE continued performing and touring the East Tennessee region, gaining popularity until the group disbanded in late 2015, leading Double G to pursue a solo career. [2]

Career

Double G first gained recognition in the music industry after producing "To The Top" by Top 100 billboard artist Coo Coo Cal, known for his 2001 single My Projects.[3] This collaboration brought him industry exposure as a producer. Double G also gained popularity for his song "Overtime" with Bay area artist Beeda Weeda, a West Coast rapper associated with Too Short, E-40, and Mac Dre.[4] This collaboration exposed him to industry connections and artists within California's music scene.
