Geraint Maglalang (born November 23, 1997) known professionally as Nerose (pronounced "knee-rose"), is a Filipino singer, songwriter, and music producer.
Early life and education
Maglalang was born in Angeles, Pampanga.
In 2006, Geraint and his friends started taking musical lessons from their musician neighbor. He was assigned to learn drums at that time. He became interested in guitar and transitioned into learning and playing it around high school.
In college, Geraint started to take his musical journey to the next step by learning how to use a DAW for music production, which then enabled him to use those skills for multimedia projects he and his friends undertook.
He graduated from Holy Angel University and earned a degree in Bachelor of Science in Information Technology.
Career
Maglalang adopted the moniker "Nerose" by combining two of his favorite things: 'nero', translated to the color black in Italian, and 'rose', which is his favorite flower.
He began posting his first trial song on SoundCloud in 2017. He made his indie debut on major streaming platforms in 2018.
Nerose cites IU, Gallant, Red Velvet, Harry Styles, Novo Amor, Paramore, Post Malone, and U2 as some of his musical influences.
