Career
Turner founded the communications firm, DW Turner Inc. in 1996, and it quickly became the largest public relations/communications firm in the southwest. In 2012, Turner decided to expand their reach even further by partnering with two other directors known for their pioneering work in the communications industry. The merging of these companies created the award-winning international communications firm Agenda, LLC. Agenda has made an impact locally by becoming the ninth New Mexico company to reach B Corp status. With Turner at the helm, Agenda has reached new levels in the communications field, becoming one of only three Alliance-wide NATO framework contractors. His team has worked with a number of U.S. and international companies including USAID, The Navajo Transitional Energy Company, UN Women, and NATO HQ. Turner has expanded Agenda to include offices in Albuquerque, NM, Washington DC, the Balkans, Republic of Georgia, and Brussels.
In 2018 Agenda won a Reed Award for Best International Campaign, for “We are NATO”, as well as Best Website For Independent Expenditure, Issue Advocacy Or Public Affairs Campaign, for Atlantic Council- Breaking Aleppo.
In 2019 Agenda won two more Reed Awards, for Best TV Ad- 60 Seconds, and Best Use of Radio Targeting for #VoteNoProp127.
In 2021 Agenda was also recognized by Expertise.com as one of the Best PR Firms in Albuquerque.
In 2015 Turner turned his love for classic Land Rover Defenders into a business by founding Heritage Driven, a shop specializing in restoration and custom built Land Rover Defenders. Heritage Driven has gathered quite a large following, being one of the few shops in the US where you can customize a classic Defender to your exact specifications.
Outside of his businesses Turner was the State Director (1994) and Campaign Manager (1998) for Gary Johnson's (R-NM) gubernatorial campaigns and worked as a General Consultant for both administrations. Over the years Turner managed campaigns for the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House of Representatives, the New Mexico state legislature and consulted on political campaigns in Asia and Europe.
When not working at Agenda, Turner takes pride in his community and is very involved in making positive changes for New Mexico. He is on the board of directors for the Community Empowerment Fund, as well as the New Mexico Coalition for Charter Schools. He also sits on the Albuquerque Managing Committee of the National Dance Institute of New Mexico. Turner is a life member of the American Council of Young Political Leaders and the National Rifle Association.
