Doyamoyee Temple
The Šree Šree Ri̐ Doyamoyee Temple (Script error: The function "langx" does not exist.) is a Hindu temple in Jamalpur District, Bangladesh. It is dedicated to the goddess Doyamoyee and serves as a significant religious site for the local Hindu community. The temple is situated near the Zero Point area of Jamalpur city.
The temple hosts various religious events throughout the year, notably the Astami Snan during Durga Puja, where devotees perform ritual baths in the nearby Old Brahmaputra River followed by prayers at the temple. A three-day folk fair accompanies this event, drawing participants from the region.[1][2]
Historically, the temple is considered one of the oldest surviving religious structures in the area. Local accounts attribute its founding to Sri Krishna Roy Chowdhury during the period of Nawab Murshid Quli Khan.[1]
The temple is accessible via local transportation from Jamalpur Railway Station and is a central landmark within Jamalpur city.
