Dr. Indira Priyadarshini Ravindran

Dr. Indira Priyadarshini Ravindran is Assistant Professor at the School of International Relations and Public Affair (SIRPA) at the Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) in Shanghai, the People’s Republic China.[1]

Education[edit]

Dr. Indira P. Ravindran graduated from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA, in 2008 with a Ph.D. in Political Science, and a specialization in International Relations. Her doctoral dissertation is a historical study of International Refugee Law (IRL).

Career[edit]

Indira Priyadarshini Ravindran has been a member of SIRPA’s faculty since the opening of the School of International Relations and Public Affair in September 2014. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in International Relations (IR) theory and practice; International Political Economy (IPE); and China-India Politics & Diplomacy.

Dr. Ravindran's areas of academic focus include the history of international relations; refugee studies; American foreign policy; and India-China relations.

She is associated with collaborative research project BRICS/G20 studies at the SIRPA G20 Centre, as well as a media monitoring project on China-India Relations with School of Journalism and Communication, SISU.[1]

Dr. Indira P. Ravindran and her students from SISU, SIRPA attended one of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assemblies in Shanghai at the Fudan University in May 2015. The professor has also taken her students to the North Korean border on a field trip and written about in for the Sunday Guardian.[2]

Personal life[edit]

Dr. Ravindran has lived in Shanghai since 2007, and has previously taught at East China Normal University, and Tongji University. Dr. Ravindran lived in the United States prior to moving to China with her family.[1]

She has been named after India’s first woman prime minister Indira Gandhi.
