From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Dr. Simon E. Mills (born Oct. 13, 1967) is an Australian author, entrepreneur, businessman, musician, songwriter, speaker, and innovation technologist.

Early years[edit]

Mills was born in Perth, Western Australia. After leaving high school, he reunited with his father Eddie Mills, who had recently been released from prison. The father and son team travelled Australia in a truck and caravan which served as a mobile piano tuning workshop. The young Mills learned the trade of piano tuning and restoration from his father for 3 years until they parted in 1985. Soon after, Mills senior suicided as a result of a long and torturous battle with alcohol.

Music, radio, and business[edit]

Mills performed and toured in multiple musical groups in Australia which led to the creation of a breakfast radio show called Friday Live with performing and writing partner Warren J. Bray. The show featured the pair writing and performing comedy song parodies about current events. The duo became nationally syndicated as Wazza and Millsy. While working on radio, Mills also worked at a piano restoration workshop which he eventually purchased and ran until the formation of a music production company called London Music Group, (now LMG Digital Media). After creating a significant national business and winning multiple recording and advertising awards, Mills and Bray composed a jingle which was awarded 1st place (world's best jingle) at the International Broadcasting Awards in Hollywood, CA in 2003. This was the catalyst that drove Mills to move his wife and three children to the United States to expand the Australian operations of the company. Headquartered in New York City, Mills grew the company to attract fortune 500 clients before developing a real estate technology venture and multiple tech innovation ventures.

Children's author[edit]

Dr. Simon Mills is a vibrant children’s author who has a different outlook on children’s literature than most. His unique stories are woven with subtle messages of respect, unity and acceptance of one another and the differences we have while showing we all share the same common thread of existence. Dr. Mills' books are all written in rhyming verse and read with a certain hypnotic rhythm which is very engaging for the young mind. Although the books are aimed at children, he is not afraid to use the big words; his belief is, just because they’re young doesn’t mean they can’t be exposed to vocabulary. This concept brings parent and child together in a discovery of language and complex, multi-level themes that delve beneath the surface of the simple story. Dr. Mills' philosophy to create literature that children can love while passively learning higher concepts is grounded in his belief that early education and education, in general, is deteriorating, especially in the United States where he now resides with his family. Dr. Mills has an inherent love of wild ideas and his characters show that life can be difficult at times, but we’re all connected, and things do work out in the end; if only to make us richer and wiser for having lived through the experience.
