Dragvanti
Dragvanti (stylized DragVanti)[1] is India's first online blog[2] and web portal for the desi drag queen and drag performers based in India.[3]
History
DragVanti was launched on June 20th 2020 by Patruni Sastry to bring focus on evolving drag scene in India by providing accessibility of drag artists to the entertainment industry.[4][5][6]
Publications
DragVanti interviews drag artists from India[7] and publishes articles on traditional Indian drag repertoires such as Launda Naach, Kathakali, Behrupiya, Kuchipudi, Theyyam[8] and other cross-dressing practices of India. In 2020 June, DragVanti co-hosted Pride fest drag panel discussions and performances.[9] DragVanti also has archival interviews[10] videos of Indian female Impersonators such as Chapal Bhaduri, Bal Gandharva and many other famous drag artists of India.[11] In August 2020, DragVanti hosted a TED circle for drag performers.[12] DragVanti also hosts monthly open online mice evenings for upcoming drag artists.[13][14] DragVanti is listed as one of Top 20 Drag Queen RSS feeds by Feedpost.[15]
