Dreamshade is a Swiss melodic metalcore band from Lugano, formed in 2006.[1]

History[edit]

Dreamshade was formed in 2006 by guitarists Fella and Rocco. However, it then took them over a year to find the right members to complete the band. After two years, they released their first EP, To the Edge of Reality. They were able to play at European summer festivals such as Metal Camp Open Air 2008, Metal Camp Open Air 2009 (main stage), and Summer Breeze Open Air 2009. In September 2010, the band signed with Spinefarm Records / Universal Music and in January 2011 released their debut album, What Silence Hides. Three music videos were shot for singles "Wide Awake", "Eternal" and "Miles Away" and the band played at several more music festivals to promote the album. In November 2011, the band parted ways with singer Iko Castelli due to musical differences and replaced him with Kevin Calì.

In mid-2012, the band started working on their second album, The Gift of Life, which was released in January 2013. Three music videos were shot for singles "Photographs", "Consumed Future" and "Your Voice". The sound of the new record is slightly different from the previous ones as Kevin Call brought to the band the use of clean vocals and toned-screams. The Gift of Life allowed the band to tour and play shows in different continents such as Europe, North America and Africa. The album was released in Japan on August 6, 2014 through Zestone Records.

The band signed with Artery in 2016 and released their latest album "Vibrant" with songs like "Where My Heart Belongs", "Up All Night" and "It's Over" that feature new influences like Active Rock, Electronic and Rap music.

Dreamshade embarked on a tour of Europe and Asia.[2]

"Question Everything" was released on January 15, 2019 and the band started a world tour through Europe with Don Broco and Emarosa, South Africa and Asia as headliners.

Through their social media channels, the group announced the release of a new album A Pale Blue Dot for March 5, 2021 and released a new track called "Lightbringers".
