History
Drivers 1st was founded in 2008 in Saint Louis Park, Minnesota, a suburb of Minneapolis.[3][4] The company began as a driver placement service that connected CDL holders with motor carrier employers on a performance-based fee model, in which carriers pay only when a driver is hired.[1]
The company's carrier network includes Anderson Trucking Service, Heartland Express, CRST, Marten Transport, and other fleets operating in the dry van, refrigerated, and flatbed freight segments.[5]
In late 2025, Drivers 1st launched the Road Recruiter Network, a peer-to-peer referral program through which active CDL drivers can refer fellow drivers to open carrier positions and receive compensation for successful placements.[6]
Operations
Recruiting services
Drivers 1st provides third-party recruitment process outsourcing for trucking carriers. The company manages driver sourcing, qualification screening, DOT compliance processing, and placement coordination on behalf of carrier clients. The model is performance-based; carriers are not charged unless a driver is hired.[1]
CDL job board
The company operates a job board at drivers1st.com where CDL drivers can search open positions from the carrier network and apply. Listings can be filtered by route type, freight specialization, and geographic area.[5]
Road Recruiter Network
The Road Recruiter Network is a peer-to-peer referral program with two components.
