dropout is an Italian retailer specialised in the resale of limited edition sneakers and streetwear. Based in Milan, Italy,[1] it operates physical shops as well as an online store.

dropout was founded in 2018 by Kola Tytler (CEO and medical doctor[2][3][4][5]), Andrea Canziani, Federico Pasquetti (former store manager of Milan's Adidas flagship store) and Stefano Zeppieri (CTO), Italian sneaker collectors who had previously met via online streetwear communities.[6][7][8][9][10] Its retail location opened in the Colonne di San Lorenzo location in Milan in September 2018.[1][11]
In November 2018, dropout launched its e-commerce.
In December 2018 Vice filmed a documentary about dropout and the factory flawed Nike Air Jordan 1 on display in the store since its opening day.[12][13][14][15][16][17]
In Spring 2019 dropout and Crep Protect, sneaker care agency, announced a strategic partnership, with the aim of bringing more events and activations to the Milanese sneakerhead community.[18][19][20]
In Autumn 2019 dropout launched the series "Shopping at dropout" which sees participating artists shopping in the store and discussing with the host their career.[21][22][23]
In Autumn 2021 dropout announced the launch of its first funding round, via equity crowdfunding.[24][25] The round was held on Italian investment platform Mamacrowd and saw dropout raising €750k, with the company receiving backing from Azimut Holding and a number of private investors.[26][27][28][29]

dropout operates a consignment model where the company authenticates items from resellers prior to selling them on instore or online. dropout make use of an automated system of market analysis in order to determine rates and sale prices of the items its receive. Those rates vary per product according to criteria set internally by the team.[30][31][32][33][34]
