The Dubai Laughing Comedy Club is a comedy club in Tecom, Dubai, UAE.[1] It has been described as Dubai's longest free comedy night.[2] A 'B Room' venue - young comics try out new material alongside 'feature acts' and established international headliners. The shows are regularly recommended by UAE publications including listings magazine Time Out Dubai[3] and daily newspaper 7 Days.[4][5][6]

History

The Dubai Laughing Comedy Club was launched in September 2012 as a monthly comedy night by comedians Salman Qureshi and Ray Addison.[7][8]

Over the next two years it was hosted at a number of venues including Rock Bottom Cafe in Bur Dubai[9] and Tecom, Player's Lounge in Bur Dubai, The Underground Bar at The Habtour Grand in Jumeirah Beach Residence and Jebel Ali Village Club in Jebel Ali.

On 8th October 2014, the club moved to a permanent weekly home, the 1UP Bar in Tecom.

Previously, the venue had been used to host a monthly show produced by comedian Hisham Wyne since 2012. The new weekly shows produced by Dubai Laughing still include Hisham Wyne's One Night Stand-Up on the last Wednesday of each month.

It was the first ever comedy roast to be held in the Middle East. After the roast comedian Jeff Ross sent a special message to Dubai Laughing.[10]

On 15th October 2014, British comedian Will Mars performed the last ever performance of his Edinburgh Comedy Festival show As Good As My Audience.[11][12]

On 5th November 2014, British comedian Nik Coppin performed his upcoming Edinburgh Comedy Festival show Mixed Racist.

On 21st January 2015 Chortle Best Newcomer 2014, and 2014 Laughing Horse New Act of the Year Sofie Hagen headlined the club.

On 4th February 2015, the club hosted its first comedy and magic night with headliner magician Martti Vannas,[13] the former host of Talent Suomi, Finland's version of Simon Cowell's Got Talent franchise.
