Dug is the tritagonist in the 2009 film, Up. He is a Golden Retriever with a collar which translates his thoughts into speech. He appears in Up, George and A.J., Dug's Special Mission and he is the protagonist in the 2021 short, Dug Days.
Up appearance
In the 2009 film Up, he is owned by Charles Muntz.
He is a very excited dog who speaks English through a special collar, invented by Charles Muntz. Earlier in the film, Dug, one of Alpha's canine members, is searching for a large bird that Muntz has been trying to capture for years. He runs into Carl Fredricksen, Russell and Kevin (the bird he is trying to capture). However, right after seeing Carl, Dug begins to call him his master and starts switching sides, now assisting Carl, Russell and Kevin.
