Dustin W. Benge is a lecturer and administrative research assistant at The Andrew Fuller Center for Baptist Studies on the campus of Southern Seminary. He is also a visiting professor at Munster Bible College, Cork, Ireland. In addition, he is the associate editor of Expositor Magazine, a publication ministry of OnePassion Ministries. He has also served as a pastor in Kentucky and Alabama.[1]

Dustin Wayne Benge is an American theologian[2] [3] and historian.[4][5][6][7] He is associate professor of Biblical Spirituality and Historical Theology at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY where he is also Director of The Andrew Fuller Center for Baptist Studies. He has served as an adjunct professor at Union School of Theology in Bridgend, Wales and Oxford, England [8] and is currently the Vice President of Communications and associate professor of Biblical Spirituality and Historical Theology, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary[9].


Early life and education[edit]

Benge was born on May 24, 1981, and grew up in London, Kentucky. He announced a calling to preach at an early age and received his B.A. from Clear Creek Baptist Bible College and M.Div. and Ph.D. from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky where he studied under Dr. Michael A.G. Haykin. Benge's Ph.D. research focused on the theology and writings of Jonathan Edwards. Benge Serves as the Vice President of Communications and associate professor of Biblical Spirituality and Historical Theology, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary[10].

Benge was licensed for ministry at Liberty Baptist Church, London, Kentucky on April 17, 1996, and ordained for ministry at Hopewell Baptist Church, Corbin, Kentucky on June 29, 2003.[11]

Ministry[edit]

For several years, Benge was involved in pastoral ministry in Kentucky[12] and Alabama[13]. Benge serves as a Senior Fellow of The Andrew Fuller Center for Baptist Studies at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary,[14] Louisville, Kentucky. In addition, he is visiting professor at Munster Bible College[15], Cork, Ireland, the Executive Editor of Reformation Fellowship Magazine, and Associate Editor of Expositor Magazine[16]

Additionally, Benge has written numerous books[17], articles, blogs, and produces a podcast titled, Walking Worthy.[18] He contributes academic and theological articles to publications such as Tabeltalk,[19] Reformanda,[20] Reformation21,[21] and the Aquila Report.[22]
