Duty Free Americas[edit]

Duty Free Americas, Inc.[1] (DFA) is the largest duty free operator in the Western Hemisphere, with more than 180 duty free shops and luxury brand travel retail boutiques. These stores offer customers thousands of different liquor, perfume and cosmetic products, confections, and luxury items. DFA is divided into three operating divisions, namely the Airport Division, the Southern Border Division, and the Northern Border Division. Throughout its history, DFA has been committed to offering a wide variety of retail formats to appeal to the personal needs and tastes of traveling consumers, especially those eligible to purchase duty free items while crossing international borders. Beyond duty free sales, DFA also operates an array of freestanding travel retail stores featuring some of the world’s foremost luxury brands, including Coach, Montblanc, Burberry, Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger, Victoria’s Secret, Tumi, M&M’s, Kiehl’s, and L’Occitane.

DFA, headquartered in Hollywood, Florida, is owned by three brothers, Simon, Jerome and Leon Falic.

  • 1972: Duty Free International, Inc. (DFI) is founded
  • 1997: DFI is acquired by BAA, a UK-based public company
  • 1998: Name changes to World Duty Free Americas, Inc. (WDFA)
  • 2001: WDFA is purchased by Simon, Jerome and Leon Falic, and the corporate name changes to Duty Free Americas, Inc.
