Dylan C. Chambers, Youngest Alderman in State of Illinois
April 6th, 2021, Dylan C. Chambers became the youngest Alderperson in The State of Illinois by being only 19 years old.
In Metropolis Illinois Home of Superman, Dylan Chambers ran for Alderman in the 2nd Ward while being a full-time student at Southern Illinois University Carbondale studying Sports Administration.
Chambers is a 2020 Graduate of Massac County High School while being involved there where he had learned and built most of his resume by being one of the best volleyball affiliates in The State of Illinois. But Chambers also ran two campaigns at school and coming out successful being the 2020 Class President, and 2020-21 Student Council President. While being busy with sports managing and leading his class to a year they never will forget, Chambers spent a lot of his time at Metropolis City Hall attending City Council meetings and having meetings with Alderpersons, as well with Mayor Billy McDaniel as well. Doing things like that it gained him confidence and knowledge to run for a public office.
Dylan Chambers and Penny Emery ran for the incumbent at the time John Taylor’s seat. Chambers and Emery ran a tight race, but Chambers came out on top winning 171 to 125 with a 57.77% to 42.23%.
Chambers is an older brother to her sister Isabella Chambers, and the son of LaMeagon and Jeff Chambers. While living in Metropolis all of his life, he plans to continue with school and serve the City of Metropolis and Ward 2 to the best of his ability for years to come. 19 years old
