Early life
Playfair was born in Fort St. James, British Columbia in Canada, the son of Jim Playfair who was a former professional hockey player and coach and Roxanne Playfair who is a singer.[2] He has two brothers, one named Austyn who attends a fashion school, and the other Jackson who plays hockey. He is the sixth generation Canadian of Scottish, English and Romanian descent. His uncle is Larry Playfair, a former NHL hockey player. When he was 19, Dylan played hockey in Merritt, British Columbia, but after discovering the range of physical and mental problems that playing hockey can provoke, he decided to abandon it.[3] He moved to Vancouver where he got a job as a production assistant on film sets, and took acting classes at night in the acting program at SchoolCreative for 6 months.[4]
Career
In 2016, he was chosen to play Gil, Gastón's son in the Disney Channel original movie Descendants 2. For his audition, he had to film a video of him from his hotel in Toronto, and two weeks later he was chosen.[5]
