Dynamic Yield is a technology company that provides digital customer experience services to businesses. Dynamic Yield’s decisioning engine uses machine learning and predictive algorithms to provide personalization, recommendations, automatic optimization, and one-to-one messaging.[1][2][3] Headquartered in New York, the company serves over 400 brands across the world.[4] The company was acquired by McDonald's in 2019, and from McDonald's by Mastercard in 2021.[5]

History[edit]

Liad Agmon and Omri Mendellvich co-founded Dynamic Yield in 2011. Agmon has led the company as chief executive officer since its inception and sits on its board of directors.[6] Prior to starting Dynamic Yield, Agmon co-founded information security vendor Onigma (acquired by McAfee) and founded social-search company Delver (acquired by Sears Holdings).[7][8][9] Following Delver’s acquisition, Liad served as a VP of New Services at Sears Holdings and sat on the board of its Home Electronics and Outlets business units.[10]

Omri Mendellevich has served as the company’s chief technology officer since its inception.[11]

As of April 2019, the company has more than 300 enterprise clients including Urban Outfitters Inc., Ikea, and HelloFresh.[12]

The company’s headquarters are in New York, with offices in Tel-Aviv, Berlin, London and Singapore.[13]

Acquisition[edit]

In March 2019, McDonald’s Corporation acquired Dynamic Yield for a reported $300 million, making it McDonald's largest acquisition in nearly two decades.[14][15] McDonald's is now the sole owner of Dynamic Yield, which remains a standalone company.[16]

In December 2021, Mastercard signed an agreement with McDonald's to acquire Dynamic Yield. [5]

Funding[edit]

The company raised approximately $68 million over five funding rounds.

  • Feb 2012: undisclosed seed round led by Ofer Zinger and Ohad Gliksman.[citation needed]
  • April 2013: a $2 million Series A round led by Bessemer Venture Partners (BVP), with investments from the New York Times Company and Eric Schmidt’s Innovation Endeavors.[17]
  • June 2014: a $12 million Series B round led by Marker LLC, with additional investments by Series A investors BVP, the New York Times Company and Innovation Endeavors, as well as a investments by ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG, a German media company.[18]
  • December 2016: Dynamic Yield announced a $22 million Series C round led by Vertex Ventures Israel (part of the Vertex Holdings network of funds) and Claltech with participation from Baidu and Global Founders Capital.[19] In July 2017, Dynamic Yield closed its Series C round with the addition of Deutsche Telekom Capital Partners and La Maison.[20]
  • August 2018: Dynamic Yield announced its Series D round, raising $32 million from Viola Growth, with participation from Union Tech Ventures.[citation needed] In October 2018, Dynamic Yield closed its Series D round with an additional $5 million from NAVER Corporation, one of Korea’s largest Internet companies, bringing the total funding round total to $38 million.[21]
