It is based on a novella of the same name by Mushegh Galshoyan, who also wrote the script for the film.
Plot[edit]
Miro is an Armenian villager and fedayi who loses his young son, wife and grandfather during the Armenian genocide. After searching for his family in vain in Western Armenia, he flees to Eastern Armenia with other Armenian refugees and marries a fellow refugee named Nare. Miro founds a new village in Soviet Armenia and starts a new family. The film ends with Miro sending his son, Harut (whom he named after his son and grandfather who died during the genocide), to fight in the Great Patriotic War.[1]
