History[edit]

Annayum Rasoolum released in 2012 was E4 Entertainment's debut venture. The movie starring Fahadh Faasil, Andrea Jeremiah, Sunny Wayne, etc. in lead roles was directed by Rajeev Ravi. The movie made at a cost of ₹4.5 crore (₹45 million) collected ₹12 crore (₹120 million) at the box office, emerging as one of the financially benefited Malayalam films of that year[2].

Later, E4 Entertainment had ventured movies in Malayalam such as Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi directed by Sameer Thahir, North 24 Kaatham directed by Anil Radhakrishnan Menon, etc. In 2014, Ohm Shanthi Oshaana directed by Jude Anthany Joseph gave them the perfect break through. The movie had successfully completed 100 days in 12 screens.[3] It was reported that it had grossed over 2.7 crore (US$380,000) in 4 days at the Indian box office.[4] In total, the movie had grossed 10.3 crore (US$1.4 million) at the box office. It was definitely one of the biggest commercial success of 2014 in Malayalam.[5]

By the beginning of 2017, E4 Entertainment had ventured a movie Ezra starring Prithviraj Sukumaran. It was a Malayalam supernatural horror thriller film written and directed by Jay K.[6] The major filming locations of the movie were Fort Kochi and Sri Lanka.[7] The movie recorded as E4 Entertainment's biggest ever hit till date. The film grossed 2.61 crore on its opening day and 2.91 crore on the second day from Kerala box office.[8] It grossed 15.02 crore from its first week in Kerala, second highest after Pulimurugan.[9] It had grossed 25.46 crore in 17 days from Kerala. It grossed 40.86 crore worldwide in 26 days.[10][better source needed] The film grossed 50 crore at the box-office and 3rd 50 crore club movie of Prithviraj.[11]
