EOS-X SPACESHIP COMPANY known as EOS-X SPACE is a pioneering global aerospace company at the forefront of transforming space tourism into a reality. Based in Europe (Seville, Spain), UAE (Abu Dhabi and Dubai) and America (Tulum, Mexico), EOS-X SPACE has the mission to revolutionize the tourism industry bringing safely people up to space at 40.000 meters of altitude in a five-hour trip.[1]

The company's commitment to environmental responsibility is reflected in its zero-emission flights. By utilizing a low-orbital flying system lifted by an eco-friendly stratospheric balloon, the company minimizes its environmental impact while preserving the planet.[2]

Mission[edit]

EOS-X SPACE aims to open near space to a greater audience, turning space into a new tourism industry in itself. The company plans to take to the edge of space approximately 10,000 passengers this decade.

This pioneer aerospace company is driven by three principles:

  1. LIVE LIMITLESS: EOS-X SPACE’s ambition is breaking barriers and democratizing space tourism to drive a new era of space tourism.
  2. MAKE IT WORTHWHILE: Sustainability is at the core of EOS-X SPACE and the company is committed to offset its carbon footprint.
  3. DISCONNECT TO RECONNECT: EOS-X SPACE is born with the ambition of making people more human, abling passengers to reconnect with Earth, nature and humankind.[3]

History[edit]

Kemel Kharbachi, founder of EOS-X Space

The company was founded in 2020 and only a year later, it closed successfully its first financial round of funding, where it got 1,076 pre-booking requests.

The project is led by Agora Next, a leader Hub in the tourism and technology sector, founded by the Spanish entrepreneur Kemel Kharbachi, which specializes in promoting tourism, technology, and innovation projects. Alongside his other company, the investment vehicle IT Holding Capital, EOS-X SPACE has created a consortium of highly reputed players composed of aerospace Tier 1 companies (AIRBUS, FADA-CATEC, EESA. AIRTIFICIAL, SENER, ACITURRI, GMV, INTA, CIMSA, Satlantis, CESA, CT Engineering, 2 universities (Madrid Polytechnic University and Carlos III University) and Spain’s National Aerospace Technology (INTA), that have crafted carefully the development of EOS-X SPACE.

With a team of 42 highly experienced engineers, the consortium has dedicated over 5.000 engineering hours to define EOS-X SPACE operational concept, system design, partner validation, and a detailed project plan. The company, with the support of the Spanish Government, presented the EOS-X system to receive grants from the EU Reconstruction Funds.

Furthermore, EOS-X SPACE is also working with EASA (EU Aviation Safety Agency) and INSTA to collaborate on the definition of the certification basis and procedures for its new type of spacecraft and operational concept.

In 2022, EOS-X SPACE was recognized for its commitment to sustainability and was honored with the Gold Awards 2022 ECO-Sustainable distinction by the prestigious Condé Nast Traveler.[4]

The company announced in January 2023 its first test flight, which is scheduled to take place from the Space Hub in Seville, Spain, during the second quarter of 2023, while the first commercial service is planned to start in 2024.[5]

In the same year, EOS-X SPACE signed a long-term agreement for the final assembly manufacturing facility for its spacecraft. Located in Seville’s aeronautical hub, the facility will have the capacity to produce up to eight spacecraft per year and will bring hundreds of highly skilled aerospace engineering and manufacturing jobs to the area.[6]

In March 2023, Kemel Kharbachi traveled to Mexico to sign an alliance with GMB to establish Tulum as EOS-X SPACE's third base, which will be designed completely environmentally friendly and integrated into nature.[7]

In May 2023, determined to lead the commercial space travel market, the company announced the release of its NFT tickets on Binance, which will provide its holders with priority access to get the flight tickets once released and exclusive access to the digital twin experience of the flight designed in Web3.

NAO-V Spacecraft[edit]

The NAO-V spacecraft is a vehicle designed and engineered by EOS-X Space with the collaboration of global-leading players. It is lifted by an eco-friendly stratospheric balloon powered by helium, which ensures no extreme accelerations and G force are involved.[8]

Measuring 4,9 x 3,5 meters, the pressurized capsule is designed with safety and comfort in mind to provide a safe journey. It has room for seven passengers and one crew member, an experienced astronaut pilot, to make the flight safe, experiential, and engaging. The capsule's interior will offer 360 views through personal panoramic windows and TV screens with live outdoor footage and flight information that will complement the window view.[9] Passengers can stand and walk around in the capsule during the last phase of the climb and a while at cruise altitude. Finally, there will be an onboard lavatory and a non-alcoholic drinks bar.

The flight has a total duration of 5 hours, divided by 2 hours of ascending, 2 hours soaring the stratosphere to contemplate the blue halo of earth, and 1 hour of descending.

Following its objective of democratizing space travel, the company guarantees that no physical requirements or special training are needed.

The price per passenger is in line with the market for first-class travel experiences: 150.000€, including six days of personalized experiences, accommodation at the EOS-X Space Hub Complex, and private transfers.[10]

Space Center and Hub[edit]

The Space Center and Hub will be a unique immersive tourism and space experience for passengers, companions and visitors.

The hospitality complex will function as a holistic clinic, offering a patented program of cognitive and physical training with a range of advanced wellness treatments, including cryotherapy, rejuvenating therapies, and hyperbaric chambers. It will also include personalized nutritional coaching optimized using advanced data analytics tools.

Likewise, the Center will act as a Hub for space tech startups, with immersive educational and entertainment experiences such as a flight simulator and immersive simulator space players.

6 days experience:

  • Arrival Day: Departure by private jet, arrival, and welcome reception at the Space Center.
  • Day One: Introduction to space vehicles and destinations. Immersion into exciting virtual reality mission experiences.
  • Day Two: Microgravity flight and an unforgettable culinary experience in the Michelin Star space food lab tasting.
  • Day Three: Customised lans of Anti-aging, Hyperbaric Suite, Superfood, and medical nutriocionist.
  • Day Four: Immersive journey experience in Web3 completing “Mission to Mars” and “Moon colonization”.
  • Day Five: Helicopter transfer to the space launch base and landing graduation ceremony.
  • Day Sixt: Private customized tour of culture, gastronomy, museums, and tourist attractions.

Digital Twin Experience[edit]

EOS-X Space is developing a Digital Twin space complex in the Web3 or metaverse, a sector expected to grow at a CAGR of 26% between 2021 and 2026.[11]

The role that the metaverse plays in the experience is diverse: it will offer virtual attractions to enhance the customer experience that in reality would be impossible, like a mission to the Moon or Mars for civilians without astronaut training, as well as flying to the stratosphere without leaving the ground.

The digital experience in the Web3 is currently being meticulously and it's scheduled to be launched in September 2023.

Space Tourism[edit]

Space tourism is human space travel for recreational purposes, either on established government-owned vehicles such as the Russian Soyuz and the International Space Station (ISS) or on vehicles fielded by private companies, such as Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic.[12]

There are several different types of space tourism, including orbital, suborbital and lunar space tourism.
