eSewa is a Nepali digital payments and financial service company.[1] It was founded in 2009 by Biswas Dhakal.[2] The company offers digital payment services to consumers and enables merchants to receive payments through its QR code.[3] eSewa received a grant from the GSMA Ecosystem Accelerator Innovation Fund in April 2017.[4][3]

History

eSewa was founded in 2009. Initially, the beta version of eSewa was released.[1] It started serving its consumers with full features on 25 January 2010. It used to be a product of F1Soft. Since 2012, it has been continuously providing excellent services to its users. eSewa implemented an agent-based model in 2013, and the number of customers and agents reached five thousand and one hundred thousand by 2014.[5][6] eSewa is now licensed by Nepal Rastra Bank as a digital payment service provider.[2]

Service

The application is a payment portal used to pay utility bills, make online payments, top up payments, transfer funds to various banks, purchase bus, airline, and film tickets, receive money, or set up a merchant account.[7][8]
