History[edit]
The company was founded by telco professionals Michael Cluzel, who is the group CEO; Siddhanta Kothari, who is the CFO; and Judy Tan, who is Director, who met while working together in Cambodia with Millicom International Cellular; and Entrepreneur Pumin (Louis) Yuvachruskul,[7] who is the CEO for Thailand.[8]
Founded in 2013[9] and launching a website initially in Thailand in June 2014[8] with the aim "to help restaurant owners and management in connecting empty stomachs to empty tables".[10] An app version for Android and iOS was launched soon after in July 2014.[11] After capturing over 95% market share in the online table reservation market in Thailand,[8][12] operations were launched in Singapore in February 2015.[8]
After raising over $10 million through a series B round investment From TripAdvisor in October 2016,[13][14] via TripAdvisor's global restaurant reservation brand, TheFork,[15] operations were launched in Malaysia in March 2017[16] and Hong Kong in May 2017.[17] In Hong Kong, Eatigo broke even after just six months of operation.[18]
After acquiring competitor Ressy[19][6] Eatigo launched in India in July 2017[20] and operations were also launched in the Philippines in July 2017.[21] The Philippine business turned a profit in four months.[18]
In July 2018, Eatigo received an undisclosed sum[22] in "pre-series C"[23] investment once again from Tripadvisor,[24] bringing the total funding raised to over US$25M to date.[25]
In January 2019, Eatigo launched in its 7th country, Indonesia.[26]
