Echo Records is a Pakistani music company.[1] [2] It operates a record label under the same name along with an online music channel, Echo Music and a yearly music festival held in Islamabad, Echo Rock Fest.[3]

Echo Records was founded in 2016 by Ali Ashraf, a Pakistani singer-songwriter and a documentary filmmaker.[4]

History[edit]

In 2015, Ali Ashraf released his debut album Paheli. Due to the absence of record labels in the country, he decided to create Echo Records,a music company and record label that assists artists in releasing, promoting and distributing their music. Echo Records was officially launched a year later.[5] [6]

Ashraf collaborated with many cafes in Islamabad for live concerts providing a space for many independent musicians in 2016. Some of the musicians were signed by Echo Records.[7] The same year, Echo Records launched Echo Rock Fest, a music festival in Islamabad featuring independent and mainstream musicians from Pakistan.[8] The Echo Rock fest discovered bands like Jasim Haider and the Pindi Boys which finished in fourth place in the second season of Pepsi Battle of the Bands[9], Black Hour and Aarish which finished in third and as runners-up respectively in the fourth season of Pepsi Battle of the Bands [10]
