UrduPoint is an Urdu-language web portal of Pakistan. It is the largest Urdu website in the world.[2][3][4] Urdupoint is 5th most visited website in Pakistan and its global rank is 419 (April 2016).[1] The UrduPoint Facebook page is among the 15 most popular pages in Pakistan[5] with 8.3 million followers[6].

UrduPoint.com was launched on August 14, 2000, as the first Urdu portal. The site is written entirely in Urdu, the native language of Pakistan. UrduPoint has the largest collection of Urdu poetry on the Internet.

History[edit]

UrduPoint was previously known as "UrduCards," and was launched in 1998. The website later added Urdu poetry. The current website, UrduPoint, was launched on August 14, 2000, and contains 14 interactive sections in Urdu, including news, poetry, literature, technology, SMS Messages, horoscope, sports, health, and Islam.[7]

PakistanPoint[edit]

In August 2010, UrduPoint announced a new project, "PakistanPoint.com", which includes different entertainment and information based websites and channels including eMarkaz.com, SMSMarkaz.com, and HulChul.net. UrduPoint.com is also going to launch Pakistan's first WebTV Project, which is under production.

Urdupoint and Internet.org[edit]

On May 28, 2015, Facebook launched Internet.org in Pakistan and UrduPoint is a partner.[8][9]. UrduPoint can access free with freebasic by Zong (Zong Pakistan) and Telenor (Telenor Pakistan)
