EchoMusicBlog.com Echo Music Blog is a Zambian entertainment and lifestyle website for music developments in Zambia and other African countries.[2]

History[edit]

The website was launched in May 2017 by Blessing Muchuu, who used it as a personal blog site. The website was banned for a few months, after it shared a song by a Mampi titled "Nyula Yako" and again the other reason was infringement rights for sharing a song by Wezi without obtaining promotional rights for the songs. The website was later reopened with a new name and updates, including the new domain EchoMusicBlog.com which it still currently uses. During the time when this website was just launched, many web users in search of Zambian music misconstrued the website to be associated with Zambian Music Blog.Co, another music website.

This was later clarified when a Zambian musician B Flow Shared His personal story published on the website after former American president Barack Obama invited him to launch Barack Obama foundation.[3][4] African Musicians like Cassper Nyovest a South African Rapper and Wizkid an Nigerian musician, appreciated Echo Music Blog via twitter for sharing his song 'Everytime', which Features popular American rapper Future.[5]

Other musicians from Countries like Zambia, Tanzania, Nigeria, Ghana , Namibia, Malawi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of the Congo and South Africa appreciated Echo Music Blog for taking a major step of exposing African Music with every one in the African continent. While other local music bodies and musicians have criticized Echo Music Blog for been in the forerunner of destroying the Zambian Music Industry. Local bloggers that have been running websites before Echo Music Blog, also publicly criticized this website for overtaking the role of promoting music in such a short period of time. While others blogged and thanked Echo Music Blog for continuing to serve Zambian music,[6] While popular musicians like Macky 2, Slap Dee, Mampi, Chef 187, T Low, Pilato and more found the platform not offensive and have shown great appreciation for the role that it has been playing.

Echo Music Blog 's traffic has grown steadily since its launch in 2017, and according to Blessing in reports, there is approximately 30,491 thousand views per month. The Web Information Company, Alexa ranks it at 1,040,817[1] as of December the year 2017 [7] In January 2018 the website was named among the top 60 African music blogs by Feed spot.[8] And was also named among the Zambian Music Blogs[9] During this period the website managed to rank as at 1,040,817 [10] in the world, while ranking 150 in Zambia where it gets more traffic [1] position.[11]
