EcoBoard Industries Ltd. is a publicly listed company established in 1991 as Western Bio Systems (WBSL):[1] trading on the Bombay Stock Exchange[2]. The company is involved in eco-friendly products, solutions, and engineering. In 2022, EcoBoard declared that it would combine all of its offerings under the umbrella brand “EcoYou”. The EcoYou brand now consists of two sub-brands: EcoBuild and EcoEnergy, primarily focussed on two activities[3]
EcoBuild: Manufacturing of Sustainable alternative building materials like EcoDek®[4], EcoRak®[5], GypEco®[6], HDUMR®, ECOMDF®[7], using its unique base material EcoBoard®[8]. EcoBoard a wood-free panel produced with agro-waste such as cotton stalk, coconut waste, bagasse and is contributing to overcoming the issue of storage solutions[9].
EcoEnergy: Design and supply of waste-to-energy engineering projects. EcoEnergy primarily deals in compressed biogas, CSTR Digesters, and biogas from industrial waste.[10]
EcoBoard’s manufacturing plant is in Velapur in the Solapur district of Maharashtra.[10]
Company history[edit]
In 1991, Western Bio Systems (WBSL) was founded to construct anaerobic wastewater treatment plants and biogas plants. In 1994, WBSL completed a project to manufacture 24,000 particle boards using agricultural waste. Deccan Fibre Boards Limited and Western Bio Systems Limited were merged in 1999 to create EcoBoard Industries Limited.[1]
Impact[edit]
In their 2021-2022 annual report, EcoBoard Industries declared themselves as Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) positive. They claim to have contributed to removing around 35 million tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere in the last 30 years.[10]
EcoBoard purchases agricultural waste from farmers in India and uses it to build panels. Through this, they are able to provide some additional income to farmers.[11]
Noteworthy usages[edit]
In 2022, the Kannada-language film KGF2 utilised EcoBoard panels in the construction of one of its movie sets. Fire-retardant EcoWal panels were used for the walls of the parliament set in the film. The use of EcoWal in this one set alone has saved over 100 trees from being cut down.[11]

EcoBoard Industries lists Praveen Kumar Raju Gottumukkala as its Director and CFO, Ramakrishna Raju Guttumukkala as its Chairman, MD, and CEO, and Shipla Soni as its Company Secreytary and Compliance Officer.
Sujani Venkata Indukuri is listed as a Director while Siva Sankar Kalive, Uttam Kadam Sampatrao, and Veeravenkata Rama Raju Penmetsa are Independent Directors.[12]
