Eco Park, also known as the Angul Eco Park & Boating, is an urban park and recreational center located in Angul, Odisha, India. Spanning approximately 6.8 acres, the park was developed by the Odisha Forest Department in collaboration with the Angul Municipality to provide a green space for the industrial town. It is situated in the Amalapada (Sikshayak Pada) area, near the Angul Railway Station Road.
History
The park was constructed with an estimated investment of ₹4 crore (US$480,000) provided by the State Forest Department. The project aimed to transform an underutilized urban patch into a community space focused on environmental conservation and public health. In September 2025, the District Collector of Angul initiated further renovation plans to upgrade the musical fountains and landscaping.
Features
The park is designed to balance natural aesthetics with modern recreational facilities:
- Boating Lake: A restored water body at the center of the park offers pedal boating facilities for visitors.
- Landscaping and Sculptures: The park features manicured lawns, seasonal flower beds, and several life-sized animal replicas. A notable landmark within the park is a large statue of Lord Shiva situated near a miniature artificial waterfall.
- Health and Fitness: The park includes a paved circular jogging track and an open-air gymnasium, which is free for public use during morning hours.
- Children’s Play Area: A dedicated zone is equipped with swings, slides, and monkey bars.
- Evening Attractions: The park features a musical fountain and decorative LED lighting that operates after sunset.
