Edwin Bryan Pence is an American stand-up comedian, podcast host and actor.
Early life
Pence was born in Virginia and grew up in Chantilly. He attended Virginia Tech before receiving an MFA from Chapman University.[1]
Career
Pence began dabbling in stand-up comedy while attending film school in Orange County before deciding to pursue it as a career.[2] He received early acclaim for appearances at the Montreal Comedy Festival in 2004 and 2006, where The Hollywood Reporter recognized him with the "New Face" distinction.[1] He appeared at HBO Aspen Comedy Arts Festival in 2007. He finished in fifth place at the 31st Seattle International Comedy Competition in 2010.[3] He has also been featured on TruTv's "How to Be a Grown Up", Comedy Central's Live at Gotham,[4] and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.[5] He released his first album "Tastes Like Pennies" in 2008[6] and his first filmed comedy special "The (Un)Special Comedy Special" in 2020.[7][8]
Pence is a prolific podcaster. He has cohosted "The Ralph Report"[9] with former Kevin and Bean contributor Ralph Garman since 2018.[10] Pence had previously performed at Kevin and Bean's annual April Foolishness comedy show.[11] He also cohosts "The Ramble" with comedian Jerry Rocha. He previously cohosted "Wake Up Hollywood" with Nikhil Korula,[12] and "Swings and Mrs." with Cody Decker and Jenn Sterger.[13][14] He has guested on countless shows, including Perfect 10 with Lahna Turner, Father Time with Jamie Kaler,[15] and Live Action Star Wars with James Hewlett and Ralph Apel.[16]
Pence has acted in a number of independent shorts, films and web series, most recently "The Get Lost Losers".[17][18]
Comedy special
Recorded in Washington, DC, "The Unspecial Comedy Special" is a one-hour special fully crowdfunded by Pence's fans. It features Pence's comedic takes on geek culture, parenting and ventures into the absurd.
It was filmed at The Comedy Loft of DC.[19]
Personal life
Pence resides in North Hollywood, California, with his wife Tracey and son Colton.[20]
