MMA career[edit]
Early career[edit]
Pamplona made his professional MMA debut in Japan on a Pancrase card in November 2002. He lost his debut fight, but went on to win his next five fights in his native Brazil. He made his U.S. debut on an International Fight League card in February 2007. He lost to Robbie Lawler via TKO in the third round. Following that loss, Pamplona went on a nine fight win streak before signing with Strikeforce.
Pamplona was scheduled to face Nick Thompson in May 2010 on Shine Fights proposed third show Worlds Collide: Mayorga vs. Thomas.[1] However, the bout did not materialize when the event was cancelled the day of the show.
Strikeforce[edit]
In 2011, Pamplona signed a three fight contract with Strikeforce. He made his debut on the preliminary card of Strikeforce Challengers: Fodor vs. Terry facing Jerron Peoples.[2] Pamplona won the fight via TKO in the first round.
Pamplona made a quick turnaround as he took his second fight just 36 days after his debut. He faced Tyler Stinson on the preliminary card of Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson[3] and lost via KO in the first round.
