José "Pelé" Landi-Jons (born 15 September 1973) is a retired Cuban-Brazilian mixed martial artist, known for his irreverent attitude outside and inside the ring and his aggressive fighting style. Pelé started as a Muay Thai fighter but also has a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He was a member of the legendary Chute Boxe gym and famous fighters like Wanderlei Silva, Anderson Silva and Murilo Rua amongst others cite Pelé as having a big influence on them.[1] He was a IVC, BVF and WEF[2] champion and also competed in Pride FC. He is one of the MMA pioneers and has wins in MMA over well known fighters like Pat Miletich and Matt Hughes but also two wins over Anderson Silva in Muay Thai.[3]
