Edward Slawinski
Edward Slawinski (born 22 may 1987 Sibiu, Romania) , a Romanian and Polish mathematician[1] and actor[2], put forward a hypothesis on July 3, 2026, that Jeanne Calment lived for 99 years—a view shared by Nikolai Zak. He also argued that in the 1980s, Guinness validated false cases such as that of Shigechiyo Izumi (1865–1986); since Jeanne Calment was also validated during that same decade, he contends that her case is likewise false and that she actually lived to be 99. In this opinion, he concurs with the view of Nikolai Zak, a Russian mathematician, that Yvonne Calment died in 1997 and Jeanne in 1934.
He also drew another comparison to refute the claims regarding Jeanne Calment:
All the evidence that Jeanne died in 1934: Emiliano Mercado del Toro was 115 years and 4 months old on January 1, 2007. 16 years ago: Delphia Welford was 115 years and 3 months old. He also explained the challenge regarding Jeanne Calment—noting that, just as a man (1865–1986) lived to be 120, she lived to be 122, and both cases were validated in the same decade. He put up $50 to have her case debunked, and he is currently awaiting the outcome. He said that he placed more faith in the case of Petrona Hernández López (1890–2007) and stated that he did not believe in the old confirmations.
