Effiong Essang MNIA, AIA (born 11th June 1965) is a housing professional[1] and architect. He is the CEO of Designhaus Limited, executive director at Temples & Basilicas Limited, and a principal partner at Platonica Architects.

He is well-known for his strong opinions on environmental issues, 21st-century architecture, and green Earth activism.[2][3]

Early life and education[edit]

Childhood and family[edit]

Effiong was born into the family of Chief E. M. Essang of Eyulor in Urue-offong Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.[4]

Education[edit]

In 1987, he earned a Bachelor of Science in architecture at Obafemi Awolowo University. Afterward, he studied and received a Master of Science degree at the same institution.[5]

Career[edit]

Early career[edit]

After serving his country in the National Youth Service Corps program from 1990 - 1991, he began his architectural career with Shelter Designs Partnership. He later moved to Contemporary Designs Associates, where he worked for four years before becoming an associate partner.[6]

3E Consultants[edit]

In 1996, it was time to move on, when an opportunity arose to fulfill a lifelong desire to be involved in the formation of an architectural firm, where he became the principal consultant architect of 3E Consultants.[7]

Further Down The Line[edit]

In 2000, he became an active member of the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON), the Green Building Council of Nigeria (GBCN), and the Nigerian Institute of Architects. By 2016, he was registered as an International Associate member of the American Institute of Architects. He currently serves as an executive director of Temples & Basilicas Limited, a real estate and management outfit, as well as a principal partner at Platonica Architects, an architectural consultancy firm.[8]
