Ege Maltepe (born in Istanbul) is a Turkish actress and playwright.

Early life

Ege Maltepe was born in Istanbul,[1] where she attended Pendik Merkez Preliminary School. Her father, Emin Maltepe, was a theatre actor. She started her secondary school education at Burak Bora Anadolu High School in 1994 and completed it in 2001. At the age of 14, she became the youngest actor accepted into Ferhan Şensoy Ortaoyuncular's Nöbetçi Theatre. She began her history studies at Boğaziçi University and interrupted them in 2002, when she started her Bachelor of Arts degree in Acting at Bilkent University's Music and Performing Arts Department, in Ankara. After graduating as the top student in her department, she went to New York City, United States on a Fulbright[2] Scholarship and earned her Master of Arts degree from The New Actors Workshop, affiliated with Antioch University, graduating in 2009.

Career

In 2010, she worked as an assistant teacher at The New Actors Workshop and was the stage manager for director Carol Bleakley Sills' production of The Tao of Chuang Chou, performed at The New Actors Workshop.[3] Maltepe founded Spolin-Ist in 2009 to introduce Viola Spolin's acting technique to Turkey. She frequently travels to Turkey to lead improvisation workshops.

Maltepe resides in 86th Street (Manhattan). Her husband, Emir Gamsızoğlu, is a composer and performs as a concert pianist in New York City.[4]
