El Cine (Los Angeles)

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

El Cine is a monthly Latinx film programming series in Los Angeles[1], started by Mariana Da Silva. She started the screening series to promote Latinx culture in Los Angeles, where many Latinx actors are relegated to auditioning for parts that are stereotypes, not at all representative of the culture[2]. El Cine operates predominantly out of the Bob Baker Marionette Theater, with some events occurring at the Los Feliz 3, the Vista, The Downtown Independent, and more. El Cine is a 501-C3 organization, with tickets for events ranging from $15-$20. El Cine events sometimes feature live music and speakers. Previous speakers have included Camila Mendes (of Riverdale) and Danny Trejo. The screenings at Bob Baker Marionette Theater are generally accompanied by marionette performances. Events are at all hours of the day, ranging from Saturday Morning cartoons to midnight screenings.
