The Electoral Reform Party (French: Parti Reformé Électorale) is a new Centrist political party in the Canadian province of Ontario, founded in 2022.[2]
The Electoral Reform Party are proponents of electoral reform via Single Transferable Vote with ranked ballots and proportional representation.[3][4]
The Electoral Reform Party would introduce legislation obligating MPPs to hold monthly Town Halls in their ridings[3][5], "legislation obligating MPPs to write a weekly newspaper column/blog/vlog (something) publicly available to explain how they’ve been representing their constituents each week"[3][6] and legislation tying MPPs’ salaries to their approval rating amongst their constituents in their riding.[3][7]
History
The Electoral Reform Party was founded on May 9, 2022[1], during the 2022 Ontario general election, by Peter House & Cameron Rajewski.
The Electoral Reform Party was born of a need to have a party representing Electoral Reform that was centrist instead of left-wing in order to build a large enough coalition of support.[8]
