Electra is a Virtual Studio Technology (VSTi) and AU (AU) software synthesizer-workstation created by the independent publisher Tone2 Audio located in Germany.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] The synthesizer is available for the Mac OS and Microsoft Windows platforms. The synthesizer was developed by Markus Krause, who developed many other well-known VST-plugins: JunoX, reFX Vanguard (audio engine), reFX Slayer (audio engine), reFX PlastiCZ! (audio engine), Tone2 Gladiator, Tone2 Icarus, Tone2 Nemesis, Tone2 RayBlaster, Tone2 Saurus, etc.

Technology[edit]

Electra combines for synthesizer-layers in one interface. Each layer consists of a fully featured synthesizer with a separate arpeggiator. Electra is 4x multitimbral, offers 41 filter-types and 53 oscillator-types. The synthesizer offers a wide range of combinable synthesis methods: Substractive, FM, Sample playback and import of own samples with loop support, Wavetables, Resynthesis function and the ability to load own waveforms, Ultrasaw, Fractal, Physical modeling, Phase distortion, Waveshaping, PWM , Soft sync, Hard sync, Noise, Ringmod, analog oscillator modeling.

Production[edit]

ElectraX v1.0 was released in 2010. It was replaced by Electra2 in 2015.

Current use[edit]

The synthesizer is used in modern electronic music productions.[10][11]
