History

Ellacotts was originally founded by Geoffrey Ellacott in 1960 and operated from offices on Banbury’s High Street. In 1963, Moreton Stranks joined the firm, which lead to a name change of Ellacott Stranks & Co. Geoffrey Ellacott was well known for his involvement in the Banbury Historical Society as the Hon. Treasurer and for preparing their accounts. The society published a magazine called Cake & Cockhorse, three times a year and in Voluime 7, Number 9 in the summer of 1979 they thanked 'Mr Geoffrey Ellacott for his generosity in auditing the accounts of the Society'.[2]

After years of growth, in 2006 Ellacott Stranks became Ellacotts LLP as it’s known today.

In 2010, they merged with another firm of accountants, Jones Boughton, still keeping the name Ellacotts LLP[3]. This year also saw the move to offices at Countrywide House, Banbury, Oxfordshire, which remains the firm’s headquarters.

In 2012, the firm opened its second office in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. In 2014, Ellacotts opened its third office in London. In 2016, Ellacotts moved its Wellingborough office into purpose built offices at Vantage House, Kettering Parkway, Kettering, Northamptonshire.

In 2016, Ellacotts appointed two new partners - Charlotte Toemaes in the Corporate Services department and Helen King in the Agricultural and Property Team. The firm was also joined by Chris Slatter who is an Independent Financial Adviser, and Ellacotts Wealth Planning Limited was created.[4]

In February 2017, Ellacotts appointed a new Tax Partner, Ann Bibby. Ann previously worked at a ‘Big Four’ firm, was a Partner at Mazars, and Head of Tax at Harrison Clark Rickerbys.[5]

In June 2017, David Stevens was appointed Managing Partner.

In February 2018, Ellacotts unveiled a new responsive website made in partnership with PracticeWeb, and rolled out new up-to-date branding throughout the firm.[6]
