Elliot Eurchuk
Elliot Eurchuk was a British Columbia-born teenager who succumbed to drug overdose and was later the subject of a coroner's report.[1] His mother, dentist Rachel Staples, found him unresponsive in his bedroom in Oak Bay, B.C., on April 20, 2018. His overdose death was ruled accidental.[1]
Jury's recommendations
As viewed in the framework of youth struggling with mental health issues, the coroner's jury recommended "better detection, treatment and transition plans". The jury also remarked at the absence on Vancouver Island of a "long-term substance abuse treatment for youth".[1]
