Elliot Langridge (born Elliot James Langridge; 5 September 1987) is an English actor, who found fame in the leading role in the 2014 film Northern Soul.
Personal life[edit]
Born in Kingston on Thames.[1]. , England, Langridge had a turbulent school life struggling with dyslexia, which resulted in him going to several schools until he found the right fit, More House School. This is where with support of his teachers and parents he became passionate about acting.
His parents having had careers in the camera and makeup departments, they were very supportive of his choice to be in front of the camera. Elliot spent his childhood on film and TV sets, this was also a big influence on him and his choice to pursue a career in the industry.
Career[edit]
Once Elliot left collage he started applying for running positions on any productions he could, his first significant break into the film industry came when he got a job in the camera department on Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix [2]. It was here that he was introduced to his first acting agent.
A few small guest roles in the odd episode of TV shows such as Primeval [3]. and The Bill [4]. followed, but it wasn't until Elliot signed with MOT Models [5]. that he met photographer Elaine Constantine. [6]. Six years later Elaine would cast him in her directing debut Northern Soul[7]. . This was Elliot's first lead in a feature film. A downtrodden northern teenager who discovers the northern soul music movement and finds his purpose in life. Before Northern Soul, Elliot did 15 months as series regular Dave Colburn [8]. party animal on British soap Hollyoaks[9]. , meanwhile learning to Northern Soul dance in preparation for Elaine Constantine's debut movie. Elliot was offered another year at Hollyoaks, but with the promise of Northern Soul due to film that summer, he signed for three more months and then left the show, not knowing that Northern Soul would be delayed a further two and a half years.
In preparation for Northern Soul Elliot lost 2 stone (28 pounds), weighing just under 9 stone (124 pounds) at the time of filming; this was necessary to play a teenager spending his time dancing at all nighters high on amphetamines.
Best known for the lead roles in BAFTA-nominated film Northern Soul (2014), and Raindance [10]. Best UK Feature Film We the Kings (2019) About a young man (Langridge) released from juvie determined to get revenge for the death of his friend. Elliot has most recently been seen in Killers Anonymous [11]. playing a British sniper in remission alongside Gary Oldman[12]. and Jessica Alba. [13]
