Elysium Project is a gaming project dedicated to the continuation of World of Warcraft in its original format released in 2004. Elysium was founded in 2016, and officially launched their first realm "Nostalrius PVP" on December 17, 2016..[1]. Elysium was launched as the continuation of Nostalrius, the largest private World of Warcraft server. Since it's launch in 2016, Elysium Project has accumulated over 4 million unique accounts and has an active player base of over 18,000 players.

Leadership[edit]

Elysium Project was originally founded by several members. However, the project is currently maintained by Administrator Rain.

Elysium has had several realm releases since 2016, including an expansion called The Burning Crusade (TBC) [2].

Over the years, Elysium has been recognized by various news sources for their activities, up to and including the latest coverage of a COVID like pandemic launched on the world during the 2019-2022 COVID-19 pandemic [3][4][5]

The project was featured upon launch on the popular news outlet, BBC in 2016[6]. Elysium was also caught up in a scandal regarding project funds that was covered by PC Gamer in 2017 [7]
