The German Embassy in Ankara is a diplomatic mission representing German interests in Ankara since 1925.

After the collapse of the Ottoman Empire and the victorious war of liberation led by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, on October 29, 1923, the Republic of Turkey was proclaimed in Ankara and Ankara was declared its capital. The diplomatic missions formerly based in Istanbul were initially reluctant to move to the new capital. After the representation of the young USSR, the representation of the German Reich was the second one to comply with the request in 1925.

The German Embassy in Ankara is located next to the Italian Embassy in the city's embassies area on Atatürk Boulevard. Until Ankara was declared the capital of Atatürk in 1923, the German embassy was located in Istanbul, Beyoglu. Today, the German Consulate General and the German Archaeological Institute are located there. The embassy land of about 65,000 square meters has been home to offices and living quarters, as well as the ambassador's residence since 1928.[1]

The consular district of the Embassy includes all the provinces of Turkey, with the exception of the provinces of the Aegean region (the area of responsibility of the Consulate General in Izmir); three provinces of the Mediterranean region Burdur, Isparta and Antalya (area of responsibility of the consulate in Antalya); Marmara region (area of responsibility of the Consulate General in Istanbul).
