Emil "Pup" Pupulidy (1908 in Greece – 1996 in Florida) built and raced Porsches (automobiles) and motorcycles in the 1950s and 1960s.

Early life[edit]

When he was in his thirties, Pupulidy fought in World War II. He worked on repairing bridges and was one of the first troops in Auschwitz after the Nazis had been defeated.

Racing[edit]

After he returned from World War II Pupulidy became very interested in building and racing cars. In 1958 he won the Europa-Berg-Meister race in the Gran-Turismo-Meister 1600 in a Porsche which he had built. Around that time he also traveled all around Europe and Africa in a Volkswagen van with three other men.

Once in his late forties he started a stained glass company and married one of his employees, Doris Pupulidy, who was in her thirties and had a daughter from a previous marriage named Leslie. Together Emil and Doris settled in Long Island and had a child named Susan.

When they retired they moved to Florida, where Pupulidy died in 1996.
