Emilio Daroch Soto (1891–1961) was a Chilean naval officer who served as Commander-in-chief of the Chilean Navy from 1947 to 1948.[1]
Biography
Daroch pursued a career as an officer in the Chilean Navy, eventually attaining the rank of vice admiral. By 1934, as a captain, he briefly served as chief of the Navy General Staff.[2] He later attained flag rank and served as Commander-in-Chief of the Chilean Fleet from March 1941 until April 1942.[3]
In 1947, Daroch succeeded Vice Admiral Vicente Merino Bielich as Commander-in-Chief of the Chilean Navy under President Gabriel González Videla.[4] During his tenure, the Navy organized its first major expedition to the Chilean Antarctic, with Daroch appointing Captain Federico Guesalaga Toro to command the expedition.[5]
Daroch remained Commander-in-Chief until 1948, when he was succeeded by Vice Admiral Carlos Torres Hevia. He died in 1961.[1]
