Emily Whitmire (born May 24, 1991) is an American[1] mixed martial artist.[2] She competes in the strawweight[3] division.
Mixed martial arts career[edit]
Amateur career[edit]
Whitmire made her amateur MMA debut on March 5, 2010. Over the next two and a half years she acquired an amateur record of 1 win against 4 losses.
Professional career[edit]
After three years of inactivity, Whitmire made her professional MMA debut at Freestyle Cage Fighting 50 (FCF 50) against Emily Ducote on September 19, 2015. Whitmire defeated Ducote, who was also making her pro MMA debut, via unanimous decision after three five-minute rounds. Whitmire went on to fight in two additional MMA bouts, gathering a professional record of 2-1.
She was then selected as a participant in the The Ultimate Fighter: A New World Champion, the UFC's 26th season of the The Ultimate Fighter reality TV show.[4] During the show, which focused on the inauguration of the UFC women's flyweight division, Whitmire won her first bout, defeating Christina Marks via armbar submission in the first round [5]. However, she lost her second bout of the show against Roxanne Modafferi via first-round TKO, eliminating her from further contention for the Ultimate Fighter title.[6] For the show's finale event, Whitmire was chosen to fight in a preliminary bout against Gillian Robertson on December 1, 2017, where Whitmire lost via armbar submission in the first round.[7]
Seven months after her loss in the The Ultimate Fighter finale event, Whitmire made her official UFC debut at UFC 226 on July 7, 2018. She was matched against former Invicta fighter Jamie Moyle for the Fight Pass preliminary fight, and defeated Moyle via unanimous decision.[8]
