Empty Cans is the first feature film from the city of Coronel Oviedo, Caaguazú Department, Paraguay. The film is in the genre of "supernatural realism". It was written and directed by Hérib Godoy, and premiered on September 20, 2014 as part of the 23rd International Film Festival, Arts and Culture - Paraguay 2014, in the Villamorra Cinecenter in Asuncion. The feature debut was shown on four screens.
Empty Cans was conceived in 2011, after nearly a year of preparation of the script, based on the short films Accounts (2010) and Pescadape (2011), also directed by Hérib Godoy, and featuring Anibal Ortiz, a mechanic of profession. The film was recorded beginning in mid-October 2012, and ended on April 12, 2014.
