The Enciclopedia d’Arte Italiana is an institution that publishes a biographical dictionary, the Enciclopedia d’Arte Italiana, Catalogo Generale Artisti dal Novecento ad oggi, started in 2012 and completed in 2022. Entries are edited by a scientific technical committee.

History[edit]

The cultural association Enciclopedia d’Arte Italiana, was established in Milan in 2009 as a non-profit, to spread knowledge in the world of modern and contemporary Italian art, an artistic heritage of painting, sculpture and photography, updated and published in an annual edition. The first printed edition dates back to 2012, as Enciclopedia d’Arte Italiana, General Catalog of Artists from 900 to today, edited by the critic Alberto Moioli,[1] assisted by a committee of experts with preclude skills in the scientific, philosophical and humanistic fields.

The bibliographic dissemination of the volumes is aimed at museums, academic institutes, art galleries and universities, an operation supported by an institutional site without any kind of advertising by the artistic director Nuccio Mula. The Enciclopedia d’arte italiana aims to photograph the scenario of Italian art, even today, its places dedicated to culture and to promote its interpreters through non-fiction communication and dedicated exhibition events.[2][3] From volume 8, year 2019, the publication is written bilingual, Italian-English, edition number 9, year 2021, was only published online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, spread in 307 international museums.[4][5]
