History and growth[edit]

Engineer, in the form it is known in today, began in 2005. It developed from the conglomeration of various student organised technical activities and has since evolved into a uniquely identifiable “tech fest”.  It was created as a platform for aspiring engineers to showcase their abilities and gain some exposure to their industry.[3][4]

The 2006 edition, Engineer ’06, featured various paper and projects presentations, robotics events, hacking contests, programming contests, design problems[5], along with workshops and seminars.[6][7] A standout event that year was “Shrishti”, a competition where the participants used their technical skills for the amelioration of society.

A number of notable guest speakers have appeared at Engineer over the years; Richard Stallman, Sam Pitroda, Anthony James Leggett, Ankit Fadia to name a few. The fest has also played host to global organisations such as CERN[8], MIT Media[8] and Bell Labs[8] among many others.[9]It also incorporated fun-filled events like freefall which served as pinnacle of attraction fro the festival.

The talk is one of the most prominent events of the technical fest where renown personalities from different domains share their experiences to make the world a better to live. The talk not only focuses on technology but also on social issues around the globe. Through this talk, students get a proper glimpse of the emerging technologies and researches going on. Dr. Pankaj Joshi[11][12], Major General SN Mukherjee[11][13], Indian film actress-Natasha Doshi[11], Henry Menezes have contributed to the stage of Engineer in previous editions.

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw[14], Chairman and Managing Director, Biocon Limited and Dr. Mark Z. Jacobson[14], Professor for Civil and Environmental Engineering at Stanford University conducted seminars to grant exposure to promising engineers in their fields.

EngiConnect[edit]

EngiConnect is a science exhibition cum competition organized for school going and pre-university students to promote innovative scientific ideas. It primarily aims to inculcate creativity and bring technology closer to school students. It includes many exciting workshops (on Android Apps, RC Aircrafts etc.).
