The English Language Teachers' Society or ELTS is a society that provide teachers a range of services to members to support them in achieving and maintaining standards in the classroom.[1] Some of the services provided are electronic newsletters, Web site for latest professional ideas, information and services,Electronic discussion board for curriculum issues, and Facebook and Twitter for updates.[2]

Structure[edit]

The Executive functions as a board of directors. Their interest is in the governance and operations of the association.[3] Committees are teachers who work in their area of interest. Committee work allows teachers to exchange ideas with others from different systems, sectors and contexts of education. Committees meet according to the requirements of their particular projects. Discussions may be in person or online.[4] There are a possibility of 9 Executive positions elected by the membership. These consist of:

  • President
  • SecrELTSry
  • Treasurer
  • Branches Officer
  • Vice President
  • 3 Directors

One of these is to be nominated President Elect.

The Executive meets at least four times a year to

  • oversee the management of the association
  • endorse directions of and provide advice on issues and progress of committees[5]
